"The stronger the dialog, the stronger the brand; the weaker the dialog, the weaker the brand." - Larry Webber

Obama ’08

A topical post to start off the blog.

Today is the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States. A lot was written last year on how Obama’s election campaign had a lot in common with a well run marketing or advertising campaign for the Obama brand.

A big part of that brand was the “O”-logo designed by Sol Sender, one of the most recognizable political logos in recent history. The NY-Times published an interview with Sender on the evolution of his design (you can find a two-part video interview at VSA Partners).

The beauty of the logo is its flexibility and how it can be adapted to suit various situations, a point well made by Speak Up.

Also of interest are the different versions of the logo that were considered by Sender before settling on the definite version.
